Since Friday, your inbox has been under assault from everyone offering you their best deals of the year.
So I figure why not share some food for thought to help you earn money, rather than spend it?
In this case, let’s look at why people ignore certain marketing messages.
This happens because of the following two reasons:
1. You’re saying something they already know.
2. You’re saying something that doesn’t apply to them.
And the thing is, people make a decision about these two issues almost immediately.
Often as soon as your first sentence.
To give you an idea of how this works …
Think back to the last conference you attended. You almost certainly saw one speaker (maybe more) who left the audience snoring.
Did you happen to look around?
No doubt, people were fumbling with their phones, walking out for bathroom breaks and whispering to others around them just to pass the time.
Everyone pretty much ignored the person on stage, right?
The presenter could have revealed that evening’s winning lottery numbers -- but no one would have noticed.
Why?
Because the audience determined early on that the information being shared was either something they already knew or it didn’t apply to them.
So they ignored what was being said.
My point is, to create meaningful marketing, you must make it interesting.
Be informative.
Really think about it …
Is what you're sharing helping people? Are you delivering information that people don’t know?
The truth is, few entrepreneurs are willing to put in the extra effort it takes to deliver this type of marketing.
They’d rather just pitch their products/services, copy competitors or jump on the latest lead-generating gimmick.
They hunt for shortcuts.
And this means opportunity for you.
Opportunity to separate yourself from competitors … opportunity to reach more prospects … opportunity to disrupt your industry.
So ask yourself ...
Are you creating marketing that people actually care about?
